I purchased the Montana Skinner and sheath from Romey at High Country Knives. I am a dedicated rifle and archery big game hunter including mountain lions .The quality and craftsmanship of this knife is far superior to any others I have ever owned. It is reassuring to head into the sticks with a knife you know you don't have to "baby" yet looks like it could be in the showcase. This knife is made to be used!

Just wanted to drop a line and let everyone know how happy I am with my High Country Knives.
My original intention was to only purchase one but I haven't been able to hold myself back. I was very impressed with the quality of work and the fit and finish of the High Desert Skinner when I received it. I currently have a knife on order and intended it to be the last one, but after the first one I happily bought the next one that came available. I already have thoughts of a fourth one to be a gift for my grandson when he is old enough to start hunting. Everyone in my family will have one before it's over.
I highly recommend one of these knives to anyone considering a custom purchase. You can be sure every one is unique and can see the pride put into the making of them. You won't be disappointed.

A few words about my knife,
The moment I saw my High Country knife (I’m the owner of the High Plains Hunter ) I could not believe the exquisite craftsmanship of it. I consider myself a good judge of quality work and attention to detail. The joints were solid and well fitted, the handle polished, smooth and balanced in my hand, blade and edge are straight and extremely sharp.
It fits well into the sheath and was very comfortable on my hip when I wore it hunting.
I’ve never hesitate at spending hard earned money on good tools and this tool is well worth the money.  I look forward to many years of use.
Good Work Sir,  I recommend your knives to all my hunting friends and relatives.

I have been using my High Country Knife for a few years now.
It is by far the best handling, well balanced and well built knife I have ever had the pleasure of using. It not only looks as pretty as a picture but it is made tough to work hard, and has been flawless for every task I have set it to, from Pigs and Deer to Water Buffalo. The whole process from ordering to receiving the knife was quick and painless, surprising seeing as Im on the opposite side of the planet. Romey answered any question I had and was a pleasure to deal with. If you are looking for a knife that not only looks a million bucks, but is built tough to handle any job you can throw at it.
You cant go past a High Country Knife.

Hi Romey,
I wanted to thank you for the knife. I've never considered myself a "knife" person. I take a knife if I'm hunting, or need a knife for a specific purpose. It was like a hammer or saw. I've never picked up a knife before that fit my hand so well. The damascus in the hilt and cap that matches ridges and indentatations with the antler handle is a work of art. This knife will one day be passed to my son and until then will spend it's time with map/compass/gps in my chest pack, or in the safe!

Romey your a very knowledgeable and professional Bladesmith!
I have two of his knives and to say I am very satisfied is an understatement.  The grips fit my hand like a glove and the balance is superb.  These are user friendly knives not meant for a show case but that is where mine are until hunting season.  These knives are a true value when you consider the workmanship and attention to detail.  I am thinking about a third knife and I am sure he will again work with me on the  design.  He is a professional hunting guide so his designs are for the hunter despite their beauty.

Romey,
Just want to let everyone know what a craftsman you are. The new sheath you constructed for my Ka-Bar, that's a USMC knife for the uneducated, is superb. My old sheath was well worn and plainly worn out when you first looked at it and told me you could make me a new sheath.
The finished product is Outstanding! It certainly takes a Craftsman to look at the knife, make a simple pencil drawing for measurement, and then produce a sheath that fits to the exact blade measurement without ever having the knife in your hands while doing the work. Will definitely recommend your work to everyone that sees the sheath. Oh Yeah, nice touch with the USMC Eagle, Globe and Anchor imprint on the sheath.Semper Fi!

The blade came in yesterday evening. Wow, wow, and wow! Has a good heft to it, not a flimsy Wal-Mart "one season" knife! I can not wait to try it out. The Mesquite handle turned out beautiful! My wife is even impressed, and she cares very little about knives.
Thank you again for all the effort and skill you put to work for this beautiful work of art. I almost hate to get it dirty, but I think a knife like this would be offended not to be put in the field.

WOW !!!!!I It is STUNNING!
I just showed the to Phil and that is the first thing he said too. They are both lovely, different in their own ways but far nicer than anything I could have imagined.
